Why use DARTmiX for your road stabilisation needs?

Inherent strength

DARTmiX is a blend of Polymer Emulsions, Elastomers and Stabilisers. It does not burn and is non-toxic. It develops inherent strength and is 100% unaffected by water once cured. Correctly maintained DARTmiX surfaces are not slippery when wet, and can be line-marked if desired.

Eco-friendly

The DARTmiX matrix in a treated road will biodegrade, with a life of +/- 5 years (adjustable as required). In fact grass seeds could be incorporated in the DARTmiX spray if situations so demanded. When finished with, just rip up and leave – nil latent disposal costs. Or rip, dig up and re-use the old subbase at a new location – the old and new DARTmiX bond very well.

Outback-friendly

The long life of DARTmiX means it survives for years even under the harsh Australian sun.

Australian made

DARTmiX is proudly Australian made by an Australian company. Overseas companies manufacture most dust suppressants and road stabilisers. However DART International manufactures DARTmiX at a Perth factory using base products sourced in Australia.

Longevity

A DARTmiX road is not asphalt, and will slowly wear. The rock type forming the roads may wear or degrade. A top-up spray (two passes of the water truck) of the treated section will need to be done as warranted (e.g. 6-monthly) to maintain the surface.

Works in the wet

DARTmiX is applied as a solution in water, and the polymerisation reactions occur as the material dries. Importantly, DARTmiX can be blended to suit permanently wet situations, i.e. where the road is making continuous water.

Increased Traction

DARTmiX roads can provide good traction surfaces for all kinds of vehicles.

Fast application

Large areas can be covered quickly with appropriate equipment, keeping downtime to a minimum. Quick clean application, water clean-up, no residues, no fouling of equipment.

Tough enough to handle transport and mining vehicles

DARTmiX permeates into any soil it is applied to, where it cures and binds the soil particles, preventing their movement to the surface. It does not crack. It is designed to create a hard and permeable surface that will withstand the rigours of our tough transport and mining industries, and still allow rainwater to drain through. Its application needs to be managed correctly – for instance with too heavy application, DARTmiX will form a waterproof cover that would be ideal not for roads but for the sealing of dams in porous soils.

Range of uses to suit the dust control, impact resistance and structural strength required

Road stabilisation is just one of many uses for DARTmiX. Various blends of the basic DARTmiX formulation, dosage and treatment thickness can be used to suit the dust control, impact resistance and structural strength required. With staged application integrated into the construction process, the final result is timely and satisfying.
Example dosages may be:
Dust control on grounds 0.25 l/m2
Walkways 0.35 l/m2
Roads, parking, laydown 0.45 l/m2

Uses other than roads include:

  1. Airstrips – these need impact resistance and structural strength
  2. Slopes, non-vehicle access areas – dust control, erosion control
  3. Constructions – improvement of clays that have a silty component
  4. Liners for spillage, washdown and containment, hazardous liquor storage
  5. Hazardous (caustic or toxic) dusts – effective control in high wind events
  6. Stabilisation of rills of broken rock
  7. Dump top closure layers
  8. Dump underdrain percolation control layers
  9. Binding loose sands and sandfill in situ
